There is more to Benalmadena's sprawling area than first meets the eye. The municipality is divided into three distinct parts, Benalmadena Pueblo, Benalmadena Costa and Arroyo de la Miel. It is where the Hollywood Actor Antonio Banderas comes from and he and Melanie Griffiths often visit Benalmadena's attractive marina.

This picturesque village and its coastline are eminently suitable for tourism, residential living and investment. There are many multi million Euro villas surrounding the Pueblo, a lovely promenade, large beautiful park and world beating marina all of which are scattered with restaurants to suit all tastes. Set in between the pueblo and the coast, there are new apartments and golf developments, which remain in Andalucian style which can be purchased for substantially less than in Marbella and Puerto Banus. This leaves plenty of scope for price increases.

Benalmadena Costa

The World Class Marina is probably the most spectacular and proudest asset of Benalmadena, with mooring space for approximately 1,000 boats of all lengths, with rumours of it doubling in size. The marina boasts some particularly attractive Moorish style architecture, has man-made islands housing some very exclusive apartments and has a special alluring ambience. Here, is an ideal place for families during the day and in the evening provides a perfect place to be pampered yacht side sipping a drink in one of the many open-air restaurants and bars. All of the above resulted in it previously being awarded the best marina in the World. Similar to Puerto Banus, the setting is close to ideal with its impressive mountain backdrop and ocean views.

In Addition, there is an attractive stretch of beach spanning an impressive 9 kilometres with an inviting palm fringed promenade, tempting you with its array of seafront chiringuitas, cafes and shops. Just a short distance away is a Casino Hotel that hosts many great shows.

Just a two minute leisurely walk from the coast will take you to "Parque de Paloma". A huge park offering no less than 3 relaxing cafes, 2 children's playgrounds, an Aviary, Mini Zoo, an enormous lake with breathtaking fountain.

Benalmadena Pueblo

The original heart of Benalmadena remains as a typical white Andalucian Village in the foothills of the mountains with its charming narrow flower filled streets and fantastic views of the coastline and mountains. Romans, Phoenicians and Moors have all inhabited in the past and have left their mark on the area, in particular having a noticeable effect on its architecture.

The village has a feel all of its own that is reflected in its restaurants and hotels. It has a quaint church perched on its own cliff top and beautiful square, surrounded by orange trees with a central fountain.

Being situated next to Mijas, Benalmadena is close to the N340 coast road and Autopista Mediterraneo that give direct access to the whole of the Costa del Sol. Malaga airport is approximately 15 minutes away, while the jet set hustle and bustle of Marbella and Puerto Banus is approximately 30 minutes away. Even Gibraltar is only approximately an hour away on the Autopista.

Arroyo de la Miel

Making up the third part of Benalmadena, Arroyo de la Miel is an extremely lively residential and commercial town offering numerous shops and restaurants. It also hosts a large Friday market where you can while away the hours browsing through an extensive array of jewellery, clothes, shoes and household items.

Arroyo de la Miel is also home to the theme park called "Tivoli World", a fantastic family day out offering an assortment of children's and adult rides as well as a selection of shows and numerous restaurants.

There are cable cars that take you to the top of the mountain that act as a backdrop to Benalmadena which offer breathtaking views of the entire coastline between Malaga and Fuengirola.
